For the last 44 years, I have worked in a trade that had me going up and down stairs, and wearing a heavy tool belt. I ended up developing arthritis in my knees and could not stand erect from the heavy load of the tool belt every day. X-rays of my knees showed that I had torn the meniscus on both sides of my left knee. I had surgery, but never had complete relief from the pain.
I was able to retire in April of 2011. It was nice to be able to finally give my knee a rest after so many years of climbing stairs. However, I wanted to stay strong and active. My wife has been successful is losing 150lbs. with the help of a personal trainer at BBFNW. I had been advised by my doctor that continuing to exercise would help me get off my blood pressure medication. I decided it was time to begin working out with a personal trainer.
I have been working with Nicole for the last 5 months. We meet two to three times per week for an hour. Her program of strengthening muscles around my knees along with a good cardio workout has been extremely beneficial.
I have lost 36 pounds, I am off my blood pressure medication, I am able to walk without soreness in my knees, and I am finally able to stand erect. I enjoy the workouts and could not imagine living without the good feeling, physically and mentally, that it gives me.
